Inability to Communicate. — A rare condition in which the person afflicted is unable to communicate in any way with others. It is a condition dependent upon brain lesions; and is usually a symptom of some pronounced difficulty, which must be appropriately treated[1].[1] The word asymbolia now seems more frequently used in relation to pain asymbolia, in persons who do not react to painful stimuli. Those interested in the condition should refer to apraxia or agnosia.
