This is a loss of voice caused by local disturbances. It is likely to occur in bronchitis, quinsy[1], laryngitis and various other affections of the throat, and it must be regarded as a symptom of those difficulties[2]. It will disappear under the treatment proper for the various diseases with which it is associated.[1] Quinsy is an abscess formation in the tonsil area.
